To the Cat I Starved for Days
in the Year of Rage and Lawyers

Guilty of wanting
love, food, you will always be
on the kitchen floor,
tearing the wrapper
from a loaf of bread,
eyes burning, fangs bared,
something I will never
forget, my fierce companoin,
who are gnawing still.
