SUZANNE BURNS's second book of poetry, The Flesh Procession, will debut from Diversity Incorporated in March of 2003. Janet Buck's review ("The Flesh Procession: Raising Hairs") appears in this issue. Her first collection, Blight, debuted from Archer Books in 2001. She has since been nominated for a Pushcart and gone on to win the 2002 Judson Jerome Poetry Fellowship. Burns's poems, "Lady Olga," "Living Doll," and "The Second Coming," appeared in Facets in July 2001.
ZYSKANDAR A. JAIMOT has been awarded the 2002 Indiana Poetry Prize for his poem "The Wrestler's Shower." Mark Doty was the judge, selecting the poem from several thousand entries. His poems ("The Whales Sonata," "John Singleton Copley comments on his painting . . . ," and "Frank Sinatra is high in cholesterol") appeared in Facets in October 2001.
A New Film About a Woman in Love with the Dead by LYN LIFSHIN has been called by one reviewer "a stunning collection that enchants the reader with well-written, tightly focused poems . . . an important addition to the two volumes of collected poems published by Black Sparrow Press . . . a must for seasoned fans of Lifshin's work, but also for new readers." Lifshin's work also appears in this and the past two issues of Facets.
DAVID SURETTE has announced the release of Selected Poems from the Daily Grind, a chapbook of 31 poems by 30 poets who have performed at the legendary Daily Grind in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He co-edited the chapbook with Valerie Lawson. For those interested in obtaining a copy who live in the Boston area, the books are available at the Daily Grind in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the Cantab in Central Square/Cambridge every Wednesday night at The Boston Poetry Slam, and at the Gallery Tea and Coffeehouse every other Saturday when the Bridgewater Poetry Slam meets. Each copy is $8.00.
