You Do Not Write a Poem

You do not write

A poem for your

Beloved, you only

Dedicate it to her.

You do not write

For the faceless

Reader because

He doesn't exist.

You do not write

For the critic

Who wants to crucify

And autopsy your poem.

You do not write

For the rich

Who'd rather

Count their money.

You do not write

For the poor

Who cannot eat

Your verses.

You do not write

It for yourself

Because the proud

Poem writes itself.
